NHS Referral
Please note that the 0845 number at the top of the page is for Mr O'Leary's private practice only. Please do not ring this number for any information concerning NHS referrals, appointments or waiting lists.
The following advice is for your information concerning NHS referrals.
All patients seeking a consultant opinion - NHS or Private - need an accompanying referral from their GP in the first instance. The information your doctor knows about your medical history is often helpful to us.
If you have an acute injury and are in significant discomfort then it is advised you attend the A&E department for urgent assessment and x-ray if required. A referral to the Knee Injury Clinic at the Royal Berkshire Hospital can be made from there.
If your situation is less urgent there are a couple of ways your GP can access the Knee Injury Clinic at the Royal Berkshire Hospital:
1. Fax 0118 322 8908 f.a.o. Secretary to Sean O'Leary
2. Letter to Sean O'Leary at Department of Orthopaedics, Royal Berkshire Hospital, London Road, Reading RG1 5AN
Alternatively 'generic' NHS referrals may be made either to the Orthopaedic Unit at the Royal Berkshire Hospital or named Consultants through the 'Choose and Book' system.
